Methodology
How a ship earns an entry — and what that entry promises you.
Every vessel in this database has been reviewed against a single canon hierarchy by our team of seven full-time editors and a 240-person volunteer reviewer corps. We document our disagreements with Memory Alpha in a public "Canon Notes" appendix on every article — because transparency about canon is the entire point.
Secondary canon flagged
Background props, deleted scenes, and licensed tie-in materials are admitted with a visible "secondary canon" tag so readers can weigh the evidence themselves.
Disagreements logged, not buried
When Memory Alpha and Star Trek Site diverge on a class, registry, or first appearance, we publish the reasoning on the article page — a habit Wired singled out in its 2023 fandom-sites roundup.
